Super Bowl winners in terms of betting for Super Bowl XLII could be the bettors and the sportsbooks.  History is on the line as the unbeaten New England Patriots try and finish a perfect season and that will make for extreme Super Bowl XLII interest and make fans the real Super Bowl winners.

Super Bowl winners in NFL history have never done what New England is trying to do.  Yes, the 1972 Miami Dolphins completed a perfect season but they only played a 14 game regular season schedule.  They went 17-0 after their Super Bowl win.  New England is already 18-0 and with a victory would finish 19-0.  Sportsbooks and bettors are already Super Bowl winners before the game has even taken place.  New England is a 12.5 point favorite with a total of 53.5 at SBG Global and it is expected that the game will generate great betting action.  Many experts are predicting that the real Super Bowl winners will be the sportsbooks and the bettors since more money is expected to be bet on this game than any other in history.

World-wide betting figures will not be available since there are no official numbers but the amount wagered will be in the billions, making sportsbooks and bettors the real Super Bowl winners.  Nevada, where gambling is legal in the United States, is just a drop in the bucket on the overall betting scene and they are expecting $100 million to be bet on the big game.

New England will try and join past Super Bowl winners but to do so they will have to defeat the surprising New York Giants and Eli Manning who upset Green Bay, winning 23-20 in overtime.  Football news showed us how New England defeated San Diego but again did not cover the spread, winning 21-12.  New England may be trying to become Super Bowl winners but they are not winning over fans betting on them.  The Patriots are only 2-8 in their last 10 games against the spread.  One of those pointspread losses was in the final regular season game of the year against the Giants when they won 38-35 but did not cover the 13 point spread.

New England will try and become Super Bowl winners and they will definitely get some wagering support.  Many gamblers that bet the game will look to lay the points with the Patriots or bet the money line on the Giants.  One thing about Super Bowl winners is that they usually cover the spread which makes the money line on New York attractive.  The matchup isn’t quite as good as Brady vs. Favre but having a New York team in the big game is great news for sportsbooks, bettors, fans and the media.  Super Bowl winners this year include more than just the two teams in the big game.
